I sat all alone wondering when my husband would get home. It was 5 minutes before the 8 o'clock hour on the evening of the 30th and I was worried. He usually got home around 7pm so this was not good. I don't tend to over react, but tonight was different. Tonight I felt like there was something in the air. Like the air right before you realize that your cookies are about to burn. Something was different.
Suddenly, my dog jumped up and started barking. I got excited since usually my dog is able to hear my husband's car coming into the driveway, call it my own personal alarm, my dog knew 9 times out of 10 when my husband was home before I did.
As i ran to the door and quick thought entered my brain, "it's not him, don't open the door." I ignored it and opened the door. I ran out in the hopes that I would be able to surprise my husband before he could get out of his car. To my surprise he wasn't there. I was crestfallen and started back inside the house when I realized that my dog, mugsy-pugsy, was no where to be found. Mugsy, I called where did you go. As I walked around my car that was parked in the drive way, a big auburn colored, bear-like dog came into view. It had big black eyes and I started to think I know this dog, but I didn't know how I knew it. I immediately yelled for Mugsy to get inside the house as I stood transfixed by this bear-dog. Suddenly, the dog stopped, got this look in it's eye that said, "I am here for you" and started bolting toward me. I couldn't move until my Mugsy barked with her girly yelp and I came out of what ever power the bear-dogs eyes had me, and I headed for the house. Mugsy got in a moment before I shut the door. My right hand went the to dead bolt while my left hand stayed on the door, but just as I got my hand to the bolt the door started to open. I could feel a hateful force behind the door as my strength was being taxed. I started to panic a little as I wondered how a dog was forcing the door with such human strength. Dogs do not usually act like this, I knew that, but I couldn't figure out why this was happening.
As I tried to push the door closed my strength was losing against the unseen force. the door crept open little by little, bit by bit. I finally used my shoulder and my full body weight and with last tired shove I got the door to close. I locked the dead bolt and the gold chain at the top of the door and ran to the window to get a peek at my attacker. there was nothing.
As I looked out the window I didn't even see anything moving outside, it was as if the whole world was paused on t.v. or something. It was creepy. I shivered and went to my dog to comfort her and make sure that she was unharmed.
A moment later, as I was in the kitchen , the dead bolt unlocked itself and the door was only stopped by the gold chain that I had fashioned at the top of the door, just in case. I stopped breathing as I heard a voice say, "Tiffy let me in"
it was my husband, he was home and I could breath again.

I told my husband the next day about what had
happened with the Chow-Chow (I looked up pictures on
google.com until I found it's name) and he shrugged it off. He said I
was worrying too much and told me that it was probably the strong wind
that we had that night. Plus, he said "You know how our bedroom door
always slams shut by itself when we turn on the air conditioner or the
heater, it's probably just something like that...but backwards." He
kissed me on the lips and told me he would make me some hot chocolate.
